Definition, flowchart, methods, style and ingredients of printing What is printing? | Flow chart of printing | Flow chart of printing | Style of printing | Ingredients of printing Printing: Printing can be described as the controlled placing of defined areas of color on to a substrate. The colorant must first be brought to the  fibre  surface usually in the form of a printing paste. If it is a soluble dyestuff, it must be diffused into fibres. The colorant must then be fixed in place and finally, excess unfixed color has to be washed out. The application of the print dye on the fabric is carried out by forcing it through the grey fabric on special printing blocks or perforated hollow rollers applied onto the fabric; the dye is then generally fixed by means of a steaming process. In other words, printing is a form of localized  dyeing . Printing processes or techniques and printing principles or styles can be distinguished. Printing processes include techniques suc...

Wallpaper Printing Methods

Wallpaper Printing Methods Most modern commercial and residential wallcoverings are produced utilizing surface, flexographic, rotary screen, or rotogravure printing methods.  This page discusses these methods along with modern and historical printing methods. Surface Printing:   The oldest automated printing method still in use today.  Surface machines lay down very heavy amounts of ink.  The ink "creeps" when it hits the paper, so the images are not as crisp as the other methods.  Also, there is no drying between color stations, so the registration (alignment of the printing) is very important to keep the inks from running into each other.  Because of the heavy lay down of ink, and the inexact image rendering, surface printing has a very distinct look.  It is especially well suited for multi-colored floral patterns and classic document designs.  Surface printers can usually print up to 12 colors. Flexographic Printing:   "Flexo" is an upd...

Illustration – Subjects and styles  Alex Greenhead 5 years ago Advertisements For this blog post I shall begin to look into the different subjects that illustrations are produced to cover as well as the different styles that I could use to produce a editorial illustration and explain the qualities of each style, as well as any connotations that could be read into by using a particular style. I will also add in some example images to help my educational analysis of them. A useful resource for this was a book written by  Alan Male , (head of the BA Illustration course at the University College in Falmouth since 1993), called  Illustration: A Theoretical and Contextual Perspective , which has helped me to better understand the role of illustration in communicating a message to the audience. An interesting point I noted was how Alan Male states that despite there being hundreds of different styles, they can all be placed within two groups, which I will quote be...

Types of Illustration – Styles and Techniques   By Bilyana in  Insights ,  Inspiration   10 months ago   Viewed  13,076  times We noticed that there are  several definitions of what illustration might be  and  what types of illustrations there are … Each time we tried to find a video, article or some other source throwing light on the subject – we got lost or we didn’t get enough information; or we had to look at several places to be able to systemize our findings… That is why we decided to put a piece together on the topic of Illustration Types of illustration Styles and techniques as our attempt in creating  a comprehensive, yet easy to read article about illustration.
