Different types of Advertising media and its benefit

There are various media option available to the advertiser. The advertising media can be grouped into the four broad categories indoor media, out door media, direct media and display media, Press media.

Press Media


The press media also known as print media includes newspaper and magazines. 

Newspaper 
Newspaper is the largest advertising medium in most of the countries. A newspaper as advertising media has the advantage flexibility, timeless and also provides possibility of extensive coverage of the advertisement. Cost per exposure is also very low in newspapers. Newspapers have several disadvantages too. There is no selectivity in newspaper advertising as much of the advertising goes noticed. There is also too much of noise and clutter in newspaper advertising. The life of newspaper advertising is extremely short lasting nor more than few hours. 





Magazines
Magazines are of three types - consumer magazines, trade magazines and special interest group magazine. Magazines provide higher degree of selectivity and longer life than newspapers. Magazine advertisements are attractive and provide quality image to the products. Magazines however do not reach the masses and are mostly read by educated group of people. 





Radio
Radio is one of the most effective advertisement media in developing countries as it reaches to almost every home. People also listen to radio attentively.

Television
Television is the most powerful advertising medium. It has both audio and video effects. Product use and demonstration is possible in television media. With the increasing number of television channels and viewer size his medium is likely to dominate the advertising business. 





Film
The film media is the cheapest indoor media as the cost of putting advertisements before or during films shows is very low. Currently, advertisement are also placed on home videos.
